Many of us start learning to play various instrument as an individual.But how many of us really do a study on how to play in a band? how to really bring out the feel of a song as a band. Like how to create space in a band? How to play stuff to blend in the songs?
For example, if a 5 min song only requires you to play four bars and the rest of the time you will be doing nothing. Are you comfortable with that? Different songs require diff instrument to do the lead. I play the keyboard, and some songs I would just be playing very minimum. sometimes i find that everybody is playing too much and playing in the same time. Sometime everyone was playing too little no one create the dynamsim. There is no climax no building up. Sometime I wld rather be in the congregation. God we need a good worship team. Hmmm.. James will u come bck?
Of course, there are also many good bands around. united live is good. haha..
Usually a band lack music arranger to assign parts, so if free for all and no control, everyone will be playing at the same time.
Just my thoughts, what do you guys think?
